“People say that what we’re all seeking is a meaning for life. I don’t think that’s what we’re really seeking. I think that what we’re seeking is an experience of being alive, so that our life experiences on the purely physical plane will have resonances with our own innermost being and reality, so that we actually feel the rapture of being alive.” -Joseph Campbell, The Power of Myth

Join us for an empowering and restorative weekend getaway to the quiet woods above Deep Creek Lake. At Blue Moon Rising cabins, the guiding principle in its every aspect is to demonstrate that comfort and beauty need not be (and will not be) sacrificed for humans to live lightly on this, our only, planet. Come experience the beauty of Deep Creek Lake, Maryland, where each cabin has been lovingly constructed out of primarily reclaimed materials, holding true to the sustainability mission of Blue Moon Rising. Enjoy them as a space to rest before your outdoor adventures, and then to relax and reflect afterwards.

Our adventures will begin and end each morning and evening with yoga practice in this beautiful setting. We will feel our deep connection to the earth through meditation and yoga nidra practice, and we will have plenty of time to bathe in the restorative fresh air of the great outdoors. You may choose to relax or be active: we may hike, paddle, swim (if it’s warm enough!) or simply enjoy the peace that nature gifts to us through quiet peaceful reflection. Click here to rent a kayak, SUP, or boat next to Blue Moon’s dock, or bring your own.

During our practices, we will learn about the qualities of Durga and begin to cultivate them in our own lives. Durga is a powerful warrior, courageous and compassionate, and her stories offer a way to understand our own experiences on a deeper level as well as to interact with others in a more meaningful way.
